This is a really great collection. I especially like that CION design — that purple background is really different from most blogs.

This is really a great set of templates. I have been looking to change mine as they are just pretty generic in order to get going.
I have been wondering about columns. It seems like a lot of the blogs I see are going to the posts on the left with two widget sidebars on the right. Do you know if there is a reason for this as far as how people read a site. The ones I have been noticing are pretty well commercialized on the sidebars so I wonder if that has something to do with it?
Thanks for the great resources above.

Good list. I might not love all of these themes, but that’s a matter of taste. Technically they look really well.
    My personal favorite – Evid

I absolutely love the Portfolio Press theme. Seems very clean and easy to use. I’m looking for a functional, yet out of the ordinary site.

I like evid the most. I have seen a few gallery themes, but most of them had a thing or two that i didn’t like much. This one looks good from all aspects. Thanks for sharing!

These themes are a deal at $19.95 a year. It is really hard to come up with or find a free WordPress theme that really looks good. I am in the process of looking for a good 3 column WP theme right now. I am good at tweaking themes, but it is so much easier if you can find a good base.

  • Zico
    January 31, 2009 at 10:45 am |

These themes all look good… but I was looking for one like any of these at a lower rate.

  • Nova
    January 31, 2009 at 11:28 am |

I have looked a lot… and concluded that you do not get themes of this class any cheaper.

  • Jake
    January 31, 2009 at 12:03 pm |

True. $19.95 is very reasonable for a templete of this quality.

That Cion template is really nice looking. They all are but I really like that one. CSS Gallery is kinda cool too, really clean and fresh looking.

I have noticed that a few themes take longer to load than the others. Why is it so?

I have just now switched over to the world of Word Press. After using Blogger for so long, Word press seems like going into a fine china shop after rolling in the mud all day.

I hope to have my first Word Press blog up in the next week!!!

    Nice Themes!

I like the look of the Portfolio Press but it seems to be linked to BlogOhBlog v3. Is that correct?

  • Khaled
    February 2, 2009 at 7:58 am |

All the themes are nice but the elegant themes are just something else and $19.95 for the year is a bargain, you wouldn’t even get an hour of a designers time for that price, let alone getting the site built.

  • Chelle
    February 2, 2009 at 8:15 pm |

Elegant Themes are some of my favorites – I have the “earthly touch” theme on the site I linked to here and have used a few others on many more. I LOVE the gallery ones – they’re almost enough to make me want to start up another site, even though I know I don’t have the time for it!

  • Jeff

I have to say, I’m a huge fan of portfolio press, it really combines all the elements of a simple refined elegance.

Some nicely made themes there. I tried several out (none that you posted) and in the end went with Thesis theme. Well worth the $87 as far as I am concerned. But I know a lot of people can’t justify spending money on a blog at this time.

Choose the right keywords that are best suits your site. And don’t make the keyword stuffing more in the description the Google spider may not crawl the sites which look like a spams.

Beautiful themes, the art on the front of the Evid Theme is pretty cool! I’ve been building a blog for real estate in the Denver Golden and Evergreen market in Colorado and am trying to balance themes with a lot of photos and those the SEO well. Do you have any thoughts on a hybrid? I’ve been using Thesis and very happy with it.

WordPress is pretty flexible with themes. I don’t know why they don’t call them templates though? Why the different nomenclature?

  • Brian
    October 19, 2009 at 8:12 am |

I’ve been using wordpress for a while. Creating new templates is pretty easy, but using complete templates is the best! Often it is enough to download and edit a template. Add your own style, and of course, give some credit to the creaters.

  • Heather
    October 26, 2009 at 11:13 am |

Those are really cool themes but I actually prefer your theme! While it might not be as “Flashy” I think it looks a lot more user friendly!

  • Nate
    December 7, 2009 at 1:11 pm |

Wow, this is a great collection of photo-centric themes. The only one I’ve tried that I wasn’t crazy about was eVid. I found it very difficult to manipulate easily (I’m not a PHP-nut, so perhaps it was just too complex for me). Great designs though. Haven’t seen 50% of them before.

  • Mel

I guess word press is the king when it comes to blogs if you can design works of art like this. My blog is on wordpress.com and their themes are outdated and sad.

A good theme is important. I like the last few. I wonder how well these themes will take web banner ads? They have been designed without. Don’t forget that great banner ads to market your site will help drive traffic to your themed website.

WordPress is very popular these days and like many people, I am also using wordpress to expose my business. As it is of course the nice look makes people to stay around your site and the galleries given here are very beautiful and classic. I am going to choose one for myself. One more thing I would like to say is that your side bar must be on the right side as most of the popular blogs have this on the right and many people are now stacked with this, so to help your viewers, place this on right side.

  • Tess
