Whiteboard is a free Wordpress framework by Brian Purkiss of Plainbeta.com. It is designed to take the leg work out of creating a Wordpress theme. It’s free with no strings attached so you can use it for commercial and non-commercial ventures. Brian has even been nice enough to say that you don’t even have to give him a link back for his efforts. Well worth a visit for anyone interested in Wordpress themes.
Plaintxt offers sandbox, a minimalist framework for Wordpress also.

Useful information. Thanks for posting. Andrew
Short, sweet and to the point, how it should be. A no frills drawing board something which is unsual in this age of fanciness.
Brave:)
I like the idea, and after looking at the code, its pretty good
very cool. I am soo adding this. I love the simplicity.
this sounds cool I’d like to try it. I’ve been meaning to make my own wordpress theme.
Wow! Great tip! Thanks so much for sharing! I bet especially helpful for people who are new to wordpress or aren’t very comfortable with computers…
This is so cool. I am not the best with PHP and this will be saving me so much time. Thanks for the link. i have already downloaded it.
Nice starting point for theme-building.
I’m a fan of blank themes like this. Definitely can save some time.
Blank themes are the best EVER
this i will certainly check out, what i love about wordpress is you can ‘tinker’ with so much stuff..
A Simple Theme for Simple Blogs. I tend not to be so simple though…
it’s a cool idea - often wordpres themes are expensive to buy or have a lot of sponsored links.
this is a great alternative
This is how I like a post to be - short but clear, productive and informative. And this one is such a resource. I can actually start designing WordPress themes with this and get myself into a business.
I think this is great, it will give us the non-graphic designers a chance at creating our own themes. Thanx for this great post!
I am always looking for new wordpress themes…This one might be what I’ve needed to actually try my own hand at designing my own, especially since there are several generators that will give you the style sheets. Thanks for introducing me to a new one!
What I tend to like about these themes is that usually the blank ones are written with much cleaner code. Plus, eve if another template had that 3 column floating right layout you wanted, it will probably take you more time to scrape it and personalize, than if you started the layout on your own.
I’m not sure I understand the appeal of this wordpress theme…
I have been looking for something like this for another project!
Thanks for this. I was looking for something nearly like this, but it’ll do!
OK..
Let me get this straight.. basically.. the blank wordpress theme is a pre-coded set of standard files that you just have to ‘beautify’.. right?
If so, anyone with standard XHTML/CSS knowledge could make a WP theme!
And.. I plan to do so
I just started a new blog and still underway. Good time to test it and if will go for it then definitely will add the credits.
Apparently, this is one great thing I have come across.
Will be sure to use it and give a shot for my next wordpress theme design
Way cool! These icons really stand out.
I agree with Jonathan!
Thanks for the link. Just checked out the site and have downloaded the theme. Never tried creating my own design before so will play around with the theme and see what i can come up with.
