A tip for promoting your WordPress blog
What are your tricks for promoting your wordpress blog? Everyone has their techniques. Maybe you are an avid Tweeter. Maybe you have a secret arsenal of high pagerank blogs that instantly give your new blog street-cred. Whatever your technique, exchanging links is an important tactic… right?
We think so, but just recently we found someone who does not like to share the love. Of course it is your right as a webmaster to deny link exchanges. Perhaps it just isn’t your thing. But we tried to contact this one site and got this message:
“ERROR:
• Message appears to be spam. Please note that link requests and link exchange requests will be automatically deleted, and are not an acceptable use of this contact form.”
We won’t show you which site felt this strongly about collaboration because, well, it wouldn’t be right to send them visitors.
The moral of this post is: RELATIONSHIPS MATTER! Isn’t that what WordPress is all about? Sharing knowledge, collaborating, creating together? For this site, it is apparently about going it alone.

Well, there is an explanation for that. Google values one way backlinks. So if two blogs with same PR exchange links it will have zero effect. I am not sure if this is true, but I know a lot of people who prefer not to exchange links directly from sita A to B. Instead they do exchanges like site A to B2 and site B to A2.
You are right Sandy, Google give more value to one way links than reciprocal link exchange, this is the reason people avoid direct link exchanges and prefer three way link partnerships because it looks more natural to Google.
The great way to get high quality one way links with your desired anchor text is to write quality articles and publish them on some of the good article directories. Webmasters search these directories for content and if they find your article interesting they will publish it on their website and you will get more one way links for free.
