Get targeted links using Connect Content
Connect Content is a network for web masters like you and me to get relevant anchor targeted links to our web content. I have been using this service to promote some of my niche sites and articles since it’s private beta launch and and want to offer readers an opportunity to join also.
Connect content is not free. It will cost you $12 a month or $120 a year.
What will you get from this network?
You will get targeted links and direct traffic to your content. You decide what content to promote, what anchor terms you want to promote and other web masters will promote your content on their sites. The harder you work promoting other web masters content, the more your content will be promoted by others.
The end result will be more search engine and direct traffic to the content you promote, which is worth much more to you than this network will cost to be part of. You will also make genuine connections with other web masters, just like you, trying to promote their content to make more money from their sites.
Is this selling buying Links? Will I get in trouble from Google?
No this isn’t selling and buying of links. You don’t have to link to or promote any sites you don’t want to. And no one has to promote your sites if they don’t wish to. This network is simply a medium to share with other webmasters the content you have which you want targeted anchored links to. You are under no obligations what so ever to promote any particular content. RT the creator of the site has gone to great effort to develop a network that is both useful to web masters and that abides by all of the Google quality guidelines. So no, I wouldn’t think you will get in any trouble by Google or any other search engine for promoting your content on this network. However, as with anything, these things are often some what of a gray area, and nothing can be guaranteed. Having said that, I am using the network myself, so I have confidence that it is not in any breech of Google’s quality guidelines.

Very interesting business concept for site promotion. It is surely worth giving them try.
Sounds like a good resource but I see few cons:
1)it’s new – nobody knows if google wouldn’t punish you for using it
2) it’s PR = n/a – probably the system is too weak to even promote themselves
Your first point answers your second concern. The domain is less than a month old, there is noway it would have PR yet. There is an affiliate program though, so people will be aiming links at the site = PR in the near future. It’s not that important for other people anyway as the links don’t come from the domain…I somehow got a link from the homepage though
Your first concern is valid…who knows how Google will see it, however, RT has researched the whole concept and can’t see any point where it breeches their terms…so the risk is small.
This service sounds a lot like a forum for people looking into linkbacks. I don’t know how popular this service will become. I will look into it, though to see what it will provide.
The truth is Jerry if you know what your looking for (organic traffic to your websites) it doesn’t actually matter if it gets popular or not. I would much prefer it if it doesn’t get too popular. There is already nearly 100 people using the service, and it will be capped at the certain point. Point is that you still get targeted links to your content which gets you more search traffic. So who cares how popular it is! Right now it is a good service!!
You use it as well, well done. Richard is a great guy and I hope this works out well for him and all users. I am sure it will.
So does it mean we will be paying for shared content basically? And in this contents are links with anchored text that we want for our blogs?
@Emesto: You are paying a monthly fee to have other people give you links to your content in theirs using anchors which you ask for.
Sounds a lot like 3waylinks – except more tailorable.
One of the chief problems I saw with 3waylinks was that youd didn’t have much control over who linked to you, or who you linked to. You selected a very broad category and the links served up were in that category. Personally I found 90% of all the links to be irrelevant to my site – the pages looked no better than a link farm.
Selection of exactly which links appear sound much better. That way you can ensure they are relevant and valuable to your visitors.

I’ve already signed up for the site but my blog and website are only a week old. I guess it’s a waiting game. I find the back-end a bit confusing though. I’m sure I’ll figure it out.
My main reason for signing up is that a lot of the blogs I am reading these days are promoting it.
Jim
There are some free content exchange programs but if this is really targeted traffic I will try it out and see what happens.
Thanks for the info, it’s good to have another source of cheap traffic
I’m going to go ahead and try this service because I’m desperate at this point for a real, legitimate method of promoting my content (and getting links of course). I hope this service is better than all the others!
I’ve seen the network promoted at several places, and have considered it. Nothing concrete yet though. I must say that it looks much better than some of the other systems. Much more affordable too.
ConnectContent! That’s the network by RT Cunningham, who also blogs on UntwistedVortex.com. I knew this was familiar, because I remember him posting about it. I might consider participating in the program, as it does seem quite well organized.
I have been using this service for a few weeks and it is great. It is not buying links so there shouldn’t be a problem but I have got a lot of quality anchor text links in a short amount of time.
I have also been using the service for approximately 3 weeks. I’ve had a great experience so far — lots of keyword anchored contextual links pointing to the website and page of my choice. Kudos all the way …
I will have to take a look at connect content. Sounds like a interesting idea and if you find sites with simialr topics it should help your site alot.
thanks, this looks like it could be a wise investment. thanks for the advice.
Sounds interesting.
I will wait for reviews from people who used this service.
Sounds like getting a bunch of paid links. Won’t you get penalized for that in the serps?
For the serious player, this may sound interesting. But for the “budget conscious” fellow, free is still in the forefront.
I am sure by now, there must be some Google representative on the inside of the Connect Content program, I guess I am too afraid but, I just always fear big Google slapping me down, so I try to avoid programs.
Still though it is a pretty decent concept.
@Jack – I don’t think it matters if a Google representative is inside. You can only see people’s link requests, but you can’t tell who’s actually linking to them
Hi,
A link is a link, is a link, and an anchored, relevant in post link is the king of all links, I think we can all agree on that, right?
So Connectcontent sounds great. Normally I would be lining up with my $12 in hand, but I have a reservation.
Over the last couple of months I have seen two top IM’s get their sites slapped down to PR0 or PR n/a for promoting such link building schemes. So, what is different about connectcontent?
I don’t mean to be a pain in the rear, but before I spend my money I would like to know it’s safe.
All the best
John
I think we may get troubles while we buy links from others. But it depends on the owner or the adminstrator I hope so..Really a very interesting topic that I haven’t come across.
It is just fine for me because it is not about selling or purchasing links but exchanging them. If I have a valuable link to publish then I have no problems doing that and vice versa. I’ll be looking at it.
Hmm i think its still a bit risky, anyone have more experience with this?
Just how would google view this?
This is an interesting concept. I am curious to hear if anyone has had success with it.
I belong to several link networks and there is always some sort of mandated exchange to make it fair.
I don’t get how this works? Do you get some sort of credits for linking to another website or is it totally voluntary? Does the network check to remove reciprocal links?
There is a credit system!
Thanks i have to take a look at the site. Sounds interesting do you see any improvement since you started with the site.
Its an interesting concept. I believe its somewhat like Syndicate Kahuna. I have took part in their program and that works great.
The project sounds very promising. Syndicating projects like these have been very effective. A little more detailed review would be very helpful.
This kind of systems usually gets you a lot of related contents to be published in your blog too. I love that feature too.
Good info, Good Domain name also
I’m going to try the service. I’m hoping there will partnerships in my niche.
Ok, I checked out Connect Content, however, there are no examples of what they offer. Would sure be nice to see how this site plays out on a person’s site. A real live example, if you will.
My blog is only 20 days old – would I be wasting my money with ConnectContent? Should I wait until my blog is more established to pay the $12 per month?
Please advise,
Michael-John Wolfe
Michael – the sooner you start building backlinks, the sooner you will see organic traffic to your site. It may take a while for it to start coming either way though…backlinks = traffic.
won’t you be required to promote other sites too? for example you have to promote some sites so they will promote yours. you mentioned credits. is it kinda like entrecard?
Janrafi – it’s nothing like entrecard, the goal is to bring search engine traffic, yes you have to links to other people content. You can do it from anywhere though…blogger blogs, squidoo etc
How does it work? You have to put up a post of X words with Y keyworded links, or what? Does this have enough users to guarantee relevance? I know RT will work to keep spammers out but you have to have a large enough pool to draw from so the links make sense.
This is a pretty interesting concept. As others have said, I wonder how Google will react to it. Even if it doesn’t breach rules, that doesn’t mean Google can’t make a new rule that it would breach. It seems like it is link selling, just in an indirect way. Like a combination of selling and reciprocal linking. But if it’s ok with Google, this is a pretty neat idea, as long as the targeting isn’t too broad.
I think it will help if you have enough sites that are same topic as yours. Just getting links from other sites will not help much if they are not related in topic or have any rank.
How would a recession affect buying text links and online directories? Would the people who run the directories have to lower their prices just to stay in business and get new customers? How would it affect online directories and places that sell text links for customers to put their website online and promote them?
still too new, will wait and see
gene
does connect content provides you any system to ease the linking process, like checking if your link exists on other side, or you only connect with other webmasters, do your link change manually
I checked their website but not much info is provided.
Thanks i did not know about the site. I have to read more on the site. Not sure how they work it out. Do they send list of links to add or do you email and ask for trades.
Really it is very interesting post and thanks for sharing it.
This is a great idea!! Finding webmasters who are willing to do such things can be time consuming but this will let us meet in one handy spot.
I’ve heard a lot about this service, and everything I’ve heard so far is pretty positive, so I think this is definitely worth a shot to get (and give) some quality backlinks.
It can but it dont must…
It sounds like a great idea to me. It would be fun to experiment on a site that I don’t mind Google punishing if things go south.
I’m a member of this network and since I joined I’ve gathered high quality relevant links easily, I highly recommend CC as it’s the best 12 bucks per month spent you can find as an SEO. Nice post.
This is a good idea and everyone seems to be saying good things about it. Still, I’m not sure that Google would approve of such a thing.
I love using Connect Content. Not everyone who uses it is really good at using it, but the concept is a very good one. I like how you can control what anchors you are looking for and how many anchors you can get based upon the number of links you have given.
The one downside is that you have to wait for other to link to you, but that is the downside with any system that complies with Google’s “rules.” You only have to link to sites that you think provide quality content. This is just a way to get into a community where you can make some new online friends completely anonymously!
Very informative article. I switched my blogs to do-follow and keyword luv recently too. Thanks
- Jack
My first time of hearing about ConnectContent. I will give it a try and see how it goes. I t looks like a place to connect to the right people for relevant link placements.
I think CC is a very cheap and powerful for what its worth. With $12/month, you can have proper anchored in content (not side wide) text link, which is awesome if you know how to use it properly.
2 of my niche blog have seen some decent increase in SERP since my two months membership.
I read Rt’s (the maker of this service) blog often and i think he is a great guy. Too bad i have just one site. When i have more i will surely use this opportunity.
This looks very useful and I think I’m going to give it a try. Everyone seems to be saying good things about it.
I recently signed up for connect content after being referred there by a few online friends whom I trust very much. I find it very easy to use and there are lots of different niches, so just about anyone could find links for their sites in there. I just got a link to my dog information blog yesterday. It’s definitely a resource I will be sticking with!
There is already nearly 100 people using the service, and it will be capped at the certain point. Point is that you still get targeted links to your content which gets you more search traffic.
Do you think that the fact that membership is capped will decrease the amount of relevant links you can get? For example, if I want links on sites relevant to moving companies, and there are only a couple members with relevant sites, I am not getting as much out of it as someone who is looking for links on internet marketing sites where there are 15 people who could offer those links. Does that make sense?
Thanks i will try this service. Sounds interesting and it might be a good one for certain topics. You should list type payments they accept.
Looks like a good way to get more traffic to a site. Like the fact yoiu can comntrol anchor text and what sites you wnat to display.
At some point the capping is going to cripple the service, but on the other hand it is needed to it doesn’t get out of control
Sounds interesting. I have to look the site over and see what types of sites are allowed. I hope it is not some ad code that is javascript.
looks like this service is cool..i’ll try it out thank you!
This is a response to Jane’s comment.
A handful of relevant and quality comments are preferable to a huge number of random comments. I think that quality will get you better ranking than quantity. Does anyone else agree with that?
Thanks for the recommendation. I have a new site out for a very competitive niche and will take a look at connectcontent for getting more back links.
I never heard of the site before. Sounds interesting i have to look it over and see if it helps with the links or has no effect on seo.
i want to try this but still hesitant, is there anyone here who tried it already?
Thanks i will look at the program. I have not seen it before and have to see how manyn sites use it now.
Seems like a good idea to get around google hatred of link farms. However I simply can’t afford to lay out $12 per month or $120 per year, as I’m not a commercial site.
I believe the connect content network, its a pity that they are not accepting new members, I believe that its a success.
Although this is a good way of avoiding link farming will Google end up peanalising this aswell?
It’s something I would definitely want to check out first.
I have been using this service since it first came out, and if you are wondering if you would get penalized for using it then think about this.
You are number 2 in the Serps for your keyword, you can’t get number 1. So you join this link network and use their URL, thinking you are going to hurt their rankings, when really you will just make it stronger.
I will give this a try, hope its better than the other i’ve tried. Your blog has been really helpful though.
It seems like a good idea. On the face of it there seems to be number limit on its effectiveness. I will have to calculate it. Thanks.
Hi Simon,
I find that interesting. Getting inside an exclusive network of webmasters who really care about establishing cordial online relationship with other webmasters while promoting their niche is something promising.
This connects how I view linking for our sites. Building links does not go like tapping the webmaster and saying “Hey, can we exchange link?” and really ask for reciprocal links. It is important to really consider a lot of factors, aside from page rank, relation to other’s niche versus yours, etc.
I really find it more inviting to know that you can freely promote your site and get to know them better before even asking for a possible online collaboration because I put more premium on getting one way links, rather than reciprocal.
But of course, if the content is really superb and the niche is related to one of my sites then I would also find a way to help spread the word. Now that’s more of a great online relationship between webmasters instead of just exchanging links.
Very cool, I am just starting to learn about search engine optimization and linking, so I am reading every article I can find, thank you very much for sharing yours.
Stacy Renee
Thanks for sharing this, Simon. I must have been born just yesterday … I’ve never come across this network before. Either that, or I’ve been hibernating without my knowing it …
