The point of this post is twofold. 1) I wanted to share my experiences with the plug-in Keywordluv. 2) I want all the people searching for keywordluv blogs to find this site first.
- Keywordluv is a Wordpress SEO plug-in that really will help both you, and the people that leave comments on your blog. I have been using it for 5 months. Comments have gone up in a huge way since I have started using the plug-in. The advantage of extra comments are that they add new content to your pages, and search engines like this. And more comments also make you site look much more popular, and appear to be widely read. Some people might argue that SEO-wise this plug-in might have more of a negative impact on sites using it because of all the the outbound links you end up giving. My experience is that the added comments are far outweighing any negative affects of the outbound links. Bluehat SEO talks about The Diminishing Values On Outbound Links, which adds to the argument that extra outbound links don’t have an overly negative affect on the ability of a page to rank well.
- With good reason there is a fair few amount of people searching for keywordluv blogs to comment on. All those people are searching for the phrase “This site uses Keywordluv”. So I wanted to add this as the title of my post to try and rank well for the term. Lets see how well I go.
So if you want to kick start your blog, I highly recommend downloading and using this plug-in on your Wordpress blog. It really is a big deal.

Ok, let me try it for the first time :). I usually don’t use this feature on some blogs, but it is certainly great as kind of award for regular and constant commentators.
And i agree with you that you will gain more in terms of SEO with it by getting bonus content.

I found more and more blogs using it and the results are clear and people like to comment on those so, I think it really works.
The keywordluv is a great plugin. However, you might want to combine it with linkylove, just to avoid all the spam.
I’m using this plugin, but commenters don’t always use it. I’m still getting people leaving keywords only for their names. Guess I need to figure out how to make Keyword Luv more prominent.
Links are important but so is search related terms. It’s quite interesting to see low traffic sites receive really high PR and the opposite happen to those that have tons of links.
This helps breed the site at the same time, rewarding the readers for visiting their site. Great plug-in!
The plugin certainly does help to generate more comments and is a good reward for people that do take the time to read and comment on blog posts. Be interesting to see if you do generate more traffic from google for ranking high for the phrase “This site uses Keywordluv”.
I’d agree that attracting more comments is a good thing as long as the comments are useful and relevant.
But what about long term, will big G eventually filter out keywordluv links?
Yes, this is an interesting experiment. Will Google suddenly decide it doesn’t like how the plug-in is being used? seems like we must be google watchers.
Already ranking number 4 in Google.com for the phrase “This site uses Keywordluv”…still behind an older post with the same title, and 2 pages from the author of the plug-in. Keeping in mind that author will have 1000’s of backlinks aiming at his site as the everyone using the plug-in gives a link on every page to him.
Caroline - I think you are giving the big G too much credit. How can it tell what is a keywordluv link and what is a normal Wordpress blog link. Look at the source code of a page. People can tell, but a spider can’t. So unless they are going to start doing things manually I can’t see it happening.
My only concern with the keywordLuv plugin, is if the wordpress user host, removes the plugin, how is he going to deal with all the users that have left their YourName@YourKeywords, hehehe. But…. nonetheless it is a fantastic plugin!

I think the Keyword Luv is cool and I am always pleasantly surprised when I post a comment that some of the bloggers use it. That doesn’t prevent, or encourage me to post comments, but I think it’s cool just the same!

Hmm, I just posted a comment thanking you for the explanation of how people might search for keywordluv blogs and my comment was marked as spam! I am trying it again and wondering what triggered that response, your article seemed to be encouraging comments and I found several new pieces of info (to me) that I thought were worth a quick note of appreciation…I guess I am confused.

I have just recently found out about this plugin and I think it is great I have entered my first SEO contest and am hoping that this will be a great tool to help as well as give the publisher content for their blog.
I Luv Keyword Luv! My main blog has been using it since it came out and I will always support it. That site, the Redneck Bar and Grill, has always been do follow and giving away all these keywords and links hasn’t hurt in the slightest. I rose from a PR 0 to PR 3 and holding with very little effort.
Unfortunately at the beginning of my backlink building campaign. I had some bad tactics. I was one of those “Great Post!” posters, and I constantly used my keywords as my name. I got marked my askimet as spam. Now that plugins like KeywordLuv exist. I am able to get my keyword backlink benefits I need and maintain non-spam integrity. Yay, KeywordLuv!!!

All these added outbound links certainly haven’t affected this page’s ability to rank. Also, it ensures the googlebot will keep coming back quickly.
The amount of comments definitely diminish the value of the outbound link though… I think. Then again, there are so many factors involved when google evaluates a link… now I’m off to explore the rest of pingable.
That is a cool plugin - I’ve been using it on one blog for a little over a month now. I’d not be too worried about outbound links either. Look at bluehatseo, for example. No fear there.
I have only found that my SERPs have improved as you consistently get keyword rich content added regularly.
Just watch out for spam
Heh, I’m still on the fence on whether to add CommentLuv to my site. I’m not what they call an early adopter.
I will say that on my big home improvement blog, every single post has at least one outgoing link (I always link to the shop that sells the product I write about) and sometimes more, and the site still has a good PR (for those that even pay attention to that any more!), so I also believe that outgoing links aren’t a big deal as far as SEO goes.

I love KeywordLuv, it is a fantastic application and, as you said, is helpful for both the reader and writer. Also, that’s clever how you are trying to rank well for that keyphrase, and since I doubt any other blogs have titles that say “This site uses KeywordLuv”, you should do really well for this. I would suggest getting at least a few inbound links from other sites with the anchor text “This site uses KeywordLuv”, and then you’ll be assured success.
Its an interesting idea, more suitable for blogs that are looking to attract webmasters though. And your plan worked, i heard about the plugin and was looking around and found your site.

I have seen some blogs using this plugin. It’s great since it encourages more user participation. I would think though that it would take some time and effort to filter spammy comments. Hope it will not bother you.
I have found more and more blogs using the keywordluv plugin. I like it because it allows us webmasters to get a link with our keywords as anchor text as well as giving the personal touch by including your name

I use this plugin with all the blogs that I build for my friends and family and we all love it.
I just added commentluv to my site a couple of days and I was thinking of adding keywordluv too, but I can’t seem to find it as a blogger add-on. Then again, I’m also considering moving my blog to wordpress because I hear so many great things about it, so maybe I should wait. I think both KeywordLuv and CommentLuv are awesome and I look forward to using both.
KeywordLuv is a great tool to use on blogs. I think giving readers the option of changing the anchor text is a great way to give back. Not to mention it helps encourage more comments.
My experience with the plugin has been good too. You may have to weed out some spam from time to time, but I still find MUCH more (and better) discussion with the plugin.
It seems like blog that use keywordluv get many more relevant comments and less people trying to abuse the name field with spammy keywords.
using “this site uses keywordluv” as a title is quite clever - seems to have worked, since your page ranks quite highly on google.

I think you made the right call when you installed keywordluv. No more people trying to smuggle their keyword into their name which looks much better and contributes get a valuable backlink.

I like the KeywordLuv plugin, I saw it from its debut, and now there are ALOT more people using it, and it’s great! People want to know what people’s names are, and not just a keyword. So it adds more value to the comments, and creates less spam.
This is a great plugin. I hope more and more blogs start to use it!
I am going after long tail keywords for my site, http://unitedstatesvicepresident.com and I will report how well I do. I designed my own site after reading how many hackers try to kill wordpress sites, but now I regret it. Wordpress is excellent.

I’ve never understood why outgoing links (in moderation) would decrease your SERPS positions. I think Keywordluv is a great plugin, I’ll be using it for my own blogs too.
Keywordluv works great but you need to be on guard with spammers. This is achieved by installing another plug in ‘lucia’s linky love’.

I like keyword luv. The idea of links out take away page rank does not work the way people think. Google has said if you have links to other sites people might find usefull it helps your rank also. In that case if people comment on blog about topic thier site is related to it might actualy help that site also.
Keywordluv…I would still be working a nine to five right now if this tool wasnt out. It brought me so much traffic and revenue that my internet business is now lucrative enough to live off of….God bless keywordluv
I see alot of blogs now use keyword luv. Sometimes they use no follow and sometimes they use follow. The ones that use comment luv do the same. Since your letting people post comments and url why not make it follow. I do not think it hurts pr like some say and might help in seo because blog is busy with comments.

By the way, I find keywordluve a great Wordpress plugin and seriously considering to use it in all my blogs. However, we should make sure to get rid of spam comments. (This page has a page rank 3 and guess what … I can see some spams already among the comments).

I would think that all the new comments you get on a page would outweigh the fact that you’re giving out outbound links. Every time a new comment is posted new content is added to the page. The PR on your blog is still high, and who knows if it would have gotten that without 80+ comments on this page alone.
I have only seen a few sites using Keywordluv so I think you have a pretty good shot at ranking for it.

KeywordLuv is, what I would like to say, a very creative Wordpress plugin. And you have used it here at pingable.com with great effect.
You were indeed #1 when I searched for that phrase. I’ve been thinking about getting keywordluv myself for some of my niche blogs but I’ve found that many blogs with the plugin are still no follow. (Which negates the effective of the plugin altogether!)

If you dont want comments to follow, do you have to turn it off manually or is it done automatically and you have to turn them on if you want them…?
Jesse there are two ways to go about this…the keywordluv plug-in doesn’t do-follow comments by default…so you can just use it as is, and the comments won’t be follow comments…although that kind of defeats the purpose of the plugin. The other way to go about it, is that if you just want to make certain post or comments not following there is a plug-in that allows you to do that also.
Craig - if you search in google for: “last blog post” + commentluv you will find a good chunk of commentluv blogs.

KeywordLuv is a great plug-in. Hopefully you will see an influx of comments. I’ve found in my experience that you will actually see more REAL comments, rather than just more spam.

This is very interesting but how do I find out if my blog use DoFollow or NoFollow?
You targeted the keyword luv terms and did very well in search results. So you know you can get good traffic with keyword luv just look at how many comments are on one post.
@Jorn: try downloading the seo for firefox plugin. it highlights the links with red if using nofollow. Hope that helps…
Keyword Luv is a very effective plug in. it inspire comment posters to post more. the use of Keyword Luv is becoming popular to the blogger.
Keywordluv helps to give a commenter the proper link juice he/she is after. Nice plug-in!

I found that many bloggers started using this plugin to boost comments. This is a good move.
About Google and these plugins - I actually started researching whether Google actually takes these comments/links into consideration for backlinks and my research was showing me Google doesn’t only to see proof that it does after the latest update, on one of my sites.

Many bloggers have increased their comments by using this plugin. This is a win win situation both blogger and commentor.

Yes. Do-Follow comments always seem to pull in crazy traffic. As long as people stick to topic, not to many webmasters have a problem with it.

@Matt - I only use keywordluv becuase it attracts certain types of users…that is people who understand SEO and the value of Keywords in backlinks. Because my blog is aimed at Web developers and SEO types, I want those types coming here and leaving comments. I don’t use keywordluv on my other sites. Although it does bring a lot of comments if your pages have any PR. Do-follow will also bring more comments, although a lot of people try and sneak their keywords into their name.

Some how I thought there would be more comments here. Kind of like Digg was when a page got a high PR and everyman and his dog would want to try and get a link on there.
I’ve seen sites that seem to use Keyword Luv AND nofollow tags on comments.. sort of using the bait, but without the reciprocity. Of course, “follow” links aren’t everything…

This plugin must be one of the most useful one for creating more backlinks to our blogs. I have it installed on a couple of my blogs, and I have noticed an increased number of visitors, and at the same time spammy commenting is as good as non existent! Thanks for the LUV!

My question is does the amount of comment spam you receive dramatially increase once you install this plugin? It seems like you would have to start spending a lot more time on comment moderation once you enable this.
Simon, I couldn’t agree with you more. Rewarding commentators for contributing valuable comments to your blog is the way to grow your blog. I have seen many blogs with great content but “0″ comments and just stagnant. What’s the point then?

I’ve just recently discovered this plugin but I’ve yet to use it. I don’t currently get a lot of comments on my blogs but I suspect that adding this plugin will help with that somewhat.
Great blog. I think everyone, particularly folks who depend on the internet for the bulk of their public contact (Real Estate Agents), need to learn about the benefits of local SEO and the POWER of backlinking when used to compete with poorly optimized competitors.

Since its release last tear, Keywordluv is making a major contribution to relationship marketing, and encourage others to leave comments, I hope it’s also about furthering meaningful discourse in the blogsphere than only about improving your rankings with backlinks. I think keywordluv is a wonderful opportunity for many blogs to get useful comments that would otherwise not be approved - or, for new or lower-traffic blogs to attract visitors/readers who may not otherwise have noticed the blog.

Here’s the WEIRD thing. I was searching for the tagline that goes with CommentLuv and your site came up. So somehow Google is crossing the results for the two plugins in the SERPs.
It is great for a fellow blogger such as yourself is using the KeywordLuv plugin. I’ve been using this plugin on my blog for sometime now and it works like magic. Using KeywordLuv plugin has many benefits. First, it attracts readers to your blog. Second, you get quality comments because keywords are now separated from them. Lastly, your readers will gain quality back links.

I personally think linking comment names is no different than forums and the incentive you have to participate in forums where you also have the change to self promote.

I’m a new blogger, but is it really considered bad etiquette to leave just keywords as your name (assuming you’re leaving a legit non-spam comment)? Maybe I’m missing the point of keywordluv?
This is a wonderful plugin and I use it on a bunch of my web sites. It brings in a lot of traffic. The spam is minimal, but if you have Askimet activated, it’ll catch pretty much all of it.
I think there are a load of different ones now, commentluv, keywordluv, nofollow free and top comments are just a few..
I have been considering adding KeywordLuv or CommentLuv. Did you look into commentluv?

From the perspective of people commenting, isn’t there a risk of google seeing a post with 100 somewhat unrelated comments and declaring the link to be a spammy in-bound one? Or is this just misunderstood google second-guessing?
@Parie: People are paranoid that Google will penalise them for just about anything. Truth of the matter is that it is very hard to do damage to a site from any form of link building…if you could, people would build bad links to their competitors. Keywordluv blogs are a great way to build links with an anchor of your choice.
It’s kinda funny that this is the site everyone finds first. Anyway, I was thinking about trying this out on a couple of blogs, but was wondering a couple of things. Do you really think that you get added value from comments when the person really just wanted a backlink (somewhat hypocritical I know). I mean if somewhat really had useful information wouldn’t they just comment without the added incentive?

If it doesn’t hurt pagerank at all, why don’t people all just make their sites have dofollow links? It seems a little odd and makes it difficult for those trying to start a new site without much experience.

The reason could be that many webmaster information pages tell the readers hey, you shouldn´t link to too much pages, use the nofollow-tag to avert spam. The site owners understand that wrong, they think you shouldn´t have any outgoing links because it will hurt your rankings.
In my blog, I try to link to pages who link to others, too. But I´m not interested in linking to pages who JUST use the nofollow tag.
Glad to see you’re using KeywordLuv. For those of you who don’t know, there is a search engine that only searches through sites that use http://advancedseo.nickopedia.com/2009/05/04/dofollow-blog-search-engine/
It works pretty well for the most part.
I completely agree that this is one of the best ways for someone to get their keywords out there legitimately. There is no second guessing as to whether the webmaster will allow anchor text and the site owner gets a great comment as well. It’s a win-win situation.

Keyword love is a great way to get more visitors to your blog, since i downloaded the plugin my site has had many more comments. I do want to add that most of the comments are thoughtful and not just a ‘nice job” response

Do you find that people are abusing your site because of this plugin or are people using it for its intended purpose?
@Anthony - I can’t answer for the webmaster obviously, but I think the fact that he/she considers the time they spend moderating to be worth the content they are generating, then people can’t really be abusing it that much. Everyone seeking backlinks is a webmaster/blogger after all, and must have some backlinking comment spamming etiquette!
I'd say your technique is working. Anytime you can get more comments to your blog and create a better sense of “social proof” then you are headed in the right direction.
It's nice to see how many people have started using KeywordLuv too…let's just hope this trend catches on and stays strong.
